Subaru has released the specifications and prices for its new Forester eBoxer, marking the UK launch of the latest Forester generation. Back in 1997 the first-generation Subaru Forester was launched, arguably making it one of the first ‘crossover’ SUVs. Its subtle styling, in comparison to other large SUVs, has won it many admirers. And it is still surprisingly capable of going off-road. It isn’t just a track-only vehicle.

The new and latest generation All-Wheel Drive Forester retains the Subaru’s renowned all-weather, go-anywhere ability with prices starting from €47,233/£38,995 for the Limited model, rising to €52,072/£42,995 for the range-topping Touring variant.Subaru has retained its signature Permanent Symmetrical Four-Cylinder All-Wheel-Drive and eBOXER hybrid drivetrain. The famed 2.0-litre horizontally-opposed four-cylinder engine, Subaru claims, features 24 improvements.

The 220mm of clearance on the ground, along with good approach angles and departure angles as well as a towing capability of 1,870kg make it one of most durable and practical estates. The Forester is less of an SUV than it appears due to its lower ride height. This will appeal to people who don’t like the current trend towards SUVs.

Forester comes with a new, 11.6″ Full HD infotainment screen that has physical buttons and switches to control climate and other functions. The updated infotainment suite includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, as well as enhanced navigation supporting both Apple Maps and what3words – ideal for tracking down remote locations. There are also Type-C and Type A charging ports in the interior, allowing electronics to be charged even when out in nature.

A generous boot and an optional hands free power tailgate are also practical features. Forester always had a clear advantage over its more visionary and claustrophobic counterparts in this area. This is complemented by the new 360° Multi-View Monitor system, aspherical door mirrors, and LED cornering lamps.

The Limited trim model starts the and includes 18″ Alloy Wheels, Illuminated Ports & Wireless Charger, Memory Driver Seats, Electronically Adjustable & Heated Front Seats, Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror, Wireless Apple CarPlay™ & Android Auto™, 360 Degree Surround View Camera.

Moving on to the mid-range Field version from €48,977/£40,440 additional features over LIMITED trim include Privacy Glass, Heated Steering Wheel, Powered Gesture Tailgate and In-built Satellite Navigation. Touring is the model at the top, with larger alloys, Heated Rear Seats and Power Sliding Ultra Glass Sunroof.
