Club de Atletismo de Estepona has delivered outstanding performances in the Andalusian Master Short Track Championship held at Antequera over the weekend.
A total of 17 medals were won by the club’s athletes: four golds, eight silvers, and five bronzes. The club’s athletes showed their strength and reaffirmed their reputation as a top master athletics club in Andalusia.
The competition featured the best masters athletes from the region competing in sprints and jumps. They also competed in throws and middle distance races. Estepona’s athletes displayed their hard work and preparedness by reaching the podium on multiple occasions.
Maryna Petrona won gold medals in both the triple jump (F35) and long jump (M55). She became a two-time Andalusian champion. Luis Merayo won gold in the long-jump (M55), and Cristina Funes took first place in high jump (F40).
The silver medal winners included Miguel López in shot put (M45), Leslie Jottard in both long jump and triple jump (F45), Luis Miguel Molina in long jump and 60 metres sprint (M70), Cristóbal Rodríguez Salguero in 60 metres hurdles (M35), Juan Sergio Picardo López in the 60 metres sprint (M60), and Juan Zotano in triple jump (M55).
Bronze medals went to Juan Zotano in long jump (M55), Eric Jean Lourdes Vallarta in shot put (M55), Juan Sergio Picardo López in the 200 metres sprint (M60), Deyanira Rivera in the 1500 metres (F45), and Miguel de los Santos in the 60 metres sprint (M50).
The club also celebrated the special recognition of Manuel Navas. This athlete, who has a disability, received an honorary gold medal for 60 metres (M50). His perseverance and dedication continue to inspire other athletes.
The Estepona athletics club continues to be a force in the Andalusian Masters category. Miguel de los Santos said that he was proud of the team and praised their efforts. These results are a reflection of their hard work, dedication, and passion. “This is another step for the club in preparing for future challenges.”
