In a bombshell announcement, the deputy mayor of Alhaurín el Grande has resigned his post and left politics for good.
Luis Guerrero, deputy mayor of Alhaurín el Grande, has resigned his position and decided to leave local politics and public life definitively, citing personal and health reasons.
The councillor from Alhaurín, and number two in the local administration, had long been a much-liked public figure, being the councillor for culture, tourism, and social welfare. In a shocking move on Friday, 14th February, he quit all of his public positions, including his political post, his party, and his entire career.
In a statement, he thanked those in the council who facilitated his rapid exit from the council and said that his ten years representing the people of Alhaurín el Grande had been an unexpected gift and an honour. ‘I have taken this decision as a next step since presenting my resignation from PSOE for personal reasons, among them my health,’ Guerrero stated at a plenary meeting of the local government.
Anthony Bermudez, mayor of Alhaurín el Grande, paid tribute to his outgoing right-hand man, saying Guerrero had ‘many reasons to feel proud of everything he has achieved in the council. He has demonstrated dedication and hard work. Ingenuity, creative vision, leadership, and creativity.
