Gallego asserted his right not to speak during his court appearance.
Sources from the police have confirmed that there were no complaints made before.
Gallego was charged with murder by the Policia Nacional on Tuesday, after he had been summoned to an interview regarding his wife’s disappearance.
During his interrogation, he admitted to dismembering her body.
A fight broke out between the two on March 18, 2020. The woman was knocked to the floor and received a head blow, which Gallego claims caused her death.
He claimed he waited for several hours to determine if Dolores was conscious, but once he confirmed her death, he decided not to dispose of her body.
He used a knife, a saw and an axe to rip her apart in their house.
He then transported the remains over several days in a backpack to disperse them in various parts of the island.
After the confession, authorities conducted inspections at possible dump sites.
Near the Shopping Centre Tropical in Playa del Ingles, human remains were discovered.
Near a supermarket, other bone fragments have been found.
The Policia Nacional searched the home of the couple and found traces of blood in the room that Dolores was killed and chopped up.
