The Chipperfield Tower is a 144 story hotel that the Qatari royal family’s Hesperia Group has proposed for Malaga’s port. It will be finished in ten years.
The new design includes a conference centre, 350-390 guest rooms and a five-star Grand Luxury Hotel. The investment in the tower is expected to exceed €120 million, with the final design delivery expected in March.
The tower will have a height of 144 meters and will be inspired by the bright lights and hazy skies in Malaga. The project will project the city’s image beyond Europe, North America and Asia to reach customers with a high purchasing capacity. Jordi Ferer, CEO of Hesperia believes that a radical change in the operation is what will reduce opposition, allowing the project to become a new dimension, and international league.
Andalusian Hospitality II still has to provide all documentation required by the start of March. Once this milestone has been reached, port technicians will be given a month of analysis before referring the project to State Ports. State Ports will then finalise the procedure and the Council of Ministers can approve the use of the building as a proposed hotel. The project should be completed by 2028.
