Fellow guest Michael Fleischmann recalled Payne offering one woman $20,000, while an American tourist told The Sun that she witnessed Payne shouting in the lobby and smashing his laptop. The lobby was almost empty, with hotel staff trying to calm him down, as a tense atmosphere built. Authorities are still investigating the fall that led to Payne’s death.
