Teenage terrorists planned to detonate a ‘mother of Satan bomb’ inside a church in Alicante, say police – CSN News

POLICE have revealed teenage terrorists were planning to detonate a ‘mother of Satan’ bomb inside an Alicante church.

They planned to attack Elche’s Santa Maria Basilica on New Year’s Eve.

Policia Nacional agents with terrorism expertise arrested the three on December 19, along with two others.

According to police reports, two of the most radicalised teenagers caught the agents’ attention because they had several knives and more than a thousand euros in cash.

The pair then revealed that they had discussed the possibility of carrying out a terrorist act and even had been in touch with other jihadists to obtain or make explosives.

The boys planned to use acetone peroxide, a powerful explosive also known as ‘mother of satan’ and ‘APEX’.

In Spain, it has already been used to carry out multiple bombings, including the Madrid 11M terrorist attacks that killed 200 people.

Police state the minors were planning ‘something big’, though the other two youngsters were not privy to these plans.

The two were neither as violent nor as radicalised as the other pair who are currently being held at a Madrid detention center for youth.

The lawyer of one of the boys, Maria Francisca Fernandez Lois, said the only thing against them was the fact they ‘browsed islamic pages.’

She also claimed one of them said ‘there were nothing more than demons’ in the basilica but she dismissed this comment as ‘childish’.
