Holidaymakers in Fuengirola were given a fright on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at approximately 10am, when a fire broke out at a hotel on the Paseo Marítimo in the Los Boliches area of Fuengirola.
Fuengirola Fire Department, Local Police and National Police responded quickly to the fire, which started in the electrical transformer room of the hotel. The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries reported. However, the building had to be evacuated and guests made to wait for 2 more hours outside.
The hotel staff, according to the authorities, implemented the self-protection system of the establishment and evacuated almost all guests before the arrival of the fire brigade. The smoke caused by the fire affected the 6th and 7th floors most. The firefighters quickly put out the fires, ventilated and brought the situation under control in minutes.
Fuengirola Council confirms that the operation went well, and no injuries were reported. The quick response by both hotel staff and emergency services guaranteed the safety of all guests.
This incident comes after another fire that occurred in Fuengirola in January. The fire broke out on January 2 in the Stella Maris, which is also located along the promenade. The fire, which started on a 12th-floor balcony, caused thick black smoke to be visible along kilometres worth of coastline. Emergency services contained the fire and no injuries were reported.
