Spain: Traveler’s £75 Ryanair Baggage Fee Sparks Frustration
Ms. Warrilow decided to hold back her frustration and pay Ryanair’s £75 gate fee, plus an additional £35 to bring her bag home, adding to her £170 flight cost.
Speaking to BBC Radio 2’s Jeremy Vine, she said, “This ‘added extra’ culture is getting out of hand. The problem is, it’s all very unclear. Had I reached out to Ryanair to check if my bag met the standards, they would have said yes, based on the measurements.”
As a travel industry professional, Ms. Warrilow highlighted how these extra fees add unnecessary stress, especially for frequent travelers like herself.
In response, Ryanair clarified: “This passenger purchased a Priority Fare, which allows a small personal bag and a 10kg cabin bag. Since her bag exceeded the permitted dimensions for a cabin bag, she was correctly charged the standard gate baggage fee of £75.”
