Marbella Council launched a campaign aimed at removing oranges from trees in the municipality. The oranges are about to start falling, which could pose a safety concern.
According to the council, 85 tons of fruit will be moved, and then transferred to a waste disposal facility.
These tasks are late in some areas of the city, where oranges have been lying on the ground for a long time.
According to the council, the works will last two more weeks as, ‘we have to wait for the optimal moment of maturation to be able to remove them.’
It is estimated that more than 1,800 trees in the city will require the transfer of almost 85,000 kilograms of oranges to the waste disposal facility.
So far, according to the council data, action has been taken on Avenida Mayorazgo, Félix Rodríguez de la Fuente, Calvario, on Avenida Nabeul, on Portada, Arte, Juan Alameda, Marques de Nájera, Puerta del Mar and Calle José Palomo Square.
The trees in Plaza de Los Naranjos continue to produce these fruits.
