Marbella Town Hall was forced into taking drastic measures after failing to complete an essential public contract on time, forcing officials to rush through an EUR1.1-million six-month deal in an emergency move intended to keep its beaches looking their best for Easter and summer visitors alike. To prevent neglectful shores or dilapidated facilities being met by visitors who arrive during these important seasons.

Marbella Finance Chief Felix Romero issued a decree declaring this move an emergency due to their obvious public importance and will use this cash injection for maintenance of walkways, public showers, shaded areas, lifeguard towers, as well as Artola Dunes which act as an important natural reserve along the coast.

Marbella Beach Emergency Returns
If it all sounds familiar, that may be because Marbella has experienced this before. Back in July 2024, local governments took emergency action when an existing contractor refused to extend his agreement, placing beaches at risk of disrepair. That emergency contract expired January 31, prompting another last-minute scramble for shore maintenance services before disaster ensues on the seaside.

Romero stated in his nine-page decree that failing to secure contracts would impose irreparable losses upon Marbella during its most crucial months – specifically June to October as peak tourist season and Easter week and every weekend leading up to summer as high season.

Now, tourists and locals alike can rest easy knowing the golden sands will be open for sunseekers… even if it took an emergency signing!
