Lewis Hamilton, the seven time Formula 1 world champion crashed his Ferrari in pre-season tests at the Circuit de Barcelona Catalunya.
Hamilton was on his second day of testing at Ferrari, as he is adjusting to a new life after 12 years at Mercedes.
Hamilton crashes Ferrari in Barcelona, Spain
The accident occurred during a private Ferrari 2023-spec test session, where Hamilton was sharing the driving duties with his teammate Charles Leclerc. The report was written by Formula 1 Hamilton claims to be “unhurt”
Ferrari was “not concerned” by the incident. It viewed it as an inevitable part of Hamilton’s transition to his new car. Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur previously expressed confidence in Hamilton’s ability to adapt, saying, “I’m not worried at all… He’s coming with experience of this. He did almost 20 seasons in F1 – and he will manage perfectly this period.” (Formula 1).

Hamilton’s limited Ferrari Testing Opportunities
Hamilton is restricted in his mileage with an older Ferrari due to the Formula 1 testing rules. The Testing of Previous Cars rules (TPC) limit the mileage that a team can cover between its race drivers before the new season starts.
Hamilton began his Ferrari career with 30 laps in Fiorano, on 22 January before moving to Barcelona for 3 more days of testing.
Hamilton will get more track time in the Ferrari team next week, after a two day Pirelli test on the same circuit.
Hamilton will drive the Ferrari 2025 model for the very first time at Fiorano on the 19th of February during a shakedown as part the launch of the team.
After this, he’ll have 1.5 days to run in the car in Bahrain at the preseason test, which starts on February 26.
Hamilton’s Ferrari debut
Hamilton’s Ferrari race debut will be at the Australian Grand Prix from March 14-16.
