Two people were due to appear in a Torrevieja Court on Friday, to answer questions about the murder of Belfast resident John George.

The body of Mr. George was discovered in a Rojales farm this month after his family reported him missing in mid-December.

Kevin Winters of the George Family solicitors said that two individuals had been summoned before a Torrevieja Court.

In a statement, Mr Winters stated: “We confirm that summonses were issued to two people to attend to answer inquiries in relation to Mr George’s murder.

We have been in contact with the authorities regarding this latest development.

Winters said, “The family is now anxiously awaiting to hear what each individual says.”

The revelation of the court appearances scheduled for Friday raised hopes that a breakthrough would be made in the investigation.

The timing of the announcement couldn’t be more critical for Mr George’s next of kin, as his funeral is imminent.

John’s funeral was delayed from last Friday to allow for a second postmortem.

Kevin Winters, however, said that the results have not yet been released. The first test revealed that George was stabbed before he was shot.

The funeral service is now scheduled for Saturday, September 9th at 9:00am.

Only one arrest was made for the murder. On January 10, a man, 32 years old from the Czech Republic, was bailed after he had been told that he is being investigated as a possible accomplice.

George’s Family has claimed through social media that George’s murderer is a drug trafficker, also from Northern Ireland. He fled to Thailand.

Last week, a Torrevieja court judge issued an international warrant of arrest.
