The police claim that a GERMAN expat whose charred remains were found in a caravan on fire in Cadiz had been killed by a stranger she had only met 24 hours prior.
Following the horrendous incident at Cala Sardina in San Roque on this month, a 47 year old man has been arrested and charged with murder and arson.
The victim was found charred inside a motorhome bearing German license plates on 9 January.
The Guardia Civil eventually identified the victim as being a German who had returned to Spain recently.
Witnesses reported that a person was seen fleeing on foot from the fire scene.
The fire investigation unit at the Judicial Police of Andalucia reported that the fire had been intentionally started in an attempt to cover up the death of the victim.
In a written statement, Guardia Civil confirmed that they had analysed all the details of the victim’s last few days, including her phone usage and the extensive coverage by CCTV.

It claimed that they were able identify a man of 47 years old as their main suspect.
The statement continued: “He is a 47-year old man who met the victim in Barcelona the day before and had traveled by train with her to Malaga.”
“After arriving at the train station they took a bus towards Algeciras. From there, they were driven by taxi up to Cala Sardina, where she had parked her RV and where the final murder occurred.”
The suspect, who had been hiding in various towns of Cadiz for several weeks, was finally apprehended on 25 January, with his hands burned from the fire.
The suspect was arrested in anticipation of his court date.
