Fresh from breaking even on the town’s debts, Estepona Council has introduced a new initiative to promote recycling by offering a 3 per cent discount on the municipal waste collection tax for residents who deposit waste at the town’s ‘punto limpio’ at least three times a year.
The measure aims to minimize the impact on taxpayers of a tax increase mandated under Spain’s Law 7/2022. This law requires them to cover all costs associated with waste collection and disposal.
Residents can qualify for a discount if they bring admissible waste (such as mattresses, computer or electrical equipment, X rays or oils) to the council dump, located in Calle Pinsapo near Los Reales.
A minimum of three deposits per year is required, and residents must present proof of these deposits, issued at the clean point, to the Provincial Revenue Agency (Patronato de Recaudación) at C/ Luis Braille, Edif. Puertosol during the first quarter 2026. The applicant must submit the standardised form along with a copy of last year’s receipt for waste tax and copies of deposit receipts.
This initiative helps residents to save money on taxes, but it also promotes environmental protection through responsible waste management. The Punto Limpido encourages proper waste management and recycling of hazardous and bulky materials, preventing illegal dumping.
The Estepona puncto limpio is currently operating on a summer-only schedule. Monday to Friday 9am-2pm and Saturday 9am-1pm. No afternoon hours.
