Delivery drivers made off with EUR1M worth of clothes from Spain’s premier fashion retailer for sale at discounted rates to markets and warehouses – CSN News

Eleven individuals were arrested on the Costa Blanca after over EUR1 Million worth of clothes belonging to Inditex fashion group were stolen and then sold at knockdown prices at markets and warehouses on the Coast.

Policia Nacional arrested seven individuals who are facing theft or misappropriation charges.

They included transportation workers who delivered items from Inditex’s logistics centre.

POLICE RAID IN ELCHE MARKET

Four people were arrested by police for handling stolen merchandise belonging to Zara and Lefties brands over six months, which totaled 83,900 items taken illegally from stores like ASICS and Target.

Stores whose orders were never picked up were located within shopping centres in Alicante, Elche and Petrer of Orihuela Costa; Murcia; Lorca; Cartagena and San Pedro del Pinatar.

Inditex reported itself to the police after an ex-freight transport employee from El Bacarot Logistics Centre in Alicante whistleblew on what had been going on there.

Police confirmed that goods purchased at El Bacarot ended up on market stalls in Alicante, San Juan and Elche.

Investigative efforts revealed that some traders purchased stolen clothing from a warehouse at Sueca(Valencia).
