The number of tourist accommodations in Spain has fallen by 7.2% from August to November 2024.
This amounts to 28,588 losses, bringing the overall to 368 295.
It is the first fall in the numbers since the beginning of 2023. However, the number of holiday accommodation is still at the second highest level ever.

Even though the number of tourist accommodation units has fallen, it is still up by 4,8% over February last year. This translates to an additional 16,906 units.
In November, Spain offered 1,857 710 accommodation spaces, 6.9% less than in August 2024, but 6.1% higher than in February the same year.
There were five average spaces per available accommodation, which was the same as August and February.
Between August and November, the data showed that the number of properties used for holiday accommodation decreased from 1,5 % to 1,38 %.
Alicante has the most number of tourist accommodation, with 41179. Malaga is close behind with 41039.
Las Palmas came in third with 27,217 properties. The Balearic Islands were second (24190), Tenerife was third (24069), Madrid was 20760 and Barcelona 18157.
Madrid (17274), Barcelona (9.575), Malaga (7.496), Valencia (7.290) and Marbella 6.888 are the top five municipalities in terms of the number of flats for tourists.
To obtain this data, the INE used the ‘web scraping’ technique where software programs analyse the top three accommodation platforms.
Previously, the Statistics Institute only published data every six months. This has now been increased to three.
