Costa News Spain: Soroptimists to hold charity jazz concert

Soroptimists International Costa del Sol (SI Costa del Sol) has not forgotten that three months after the DANA storms, many people in the Valencia area, as well as closer to home, in the Guardalhorce Valley are still struggling and suffering to rebuild their lives.

Mijas-based Association jumped in action with a number of acts as soon as floods were announced to support victims of the worst flooding disaster in Spain in decades.

‘As women’s empowerment is one of our goals,’ says Daphne Theunissen, president of SI Costa del Sol, ‘we have decided to focus on women entrepreneurs. “Everyone benefits when you help her rebuild her company,” she says. ‘As well, so to identify those women who need our support, we also need to tap more funds, because we have decided that it will be necessary to go directly to the affected areas and meet the women in person to ensure the world does not forget about them.’

Soroptimist International Costa del Sol will hold a Jazz Concert at their headquarters in order to raise money to help victims. The concert will be held on the 23rd of February. Both for those who want to attend this event or are interested in talking part with the Soroptimist DANA Project, they can collect more information and / or contribute donations through the association’s email: soroptimist.costadelsol@gmail.com or the website costadelsol.soroptimist.es.
