On the site of an old Repsol fuel depot, a massive park and skyscraper is planned for Malaga.
This 70,000-square-metre parcel of land, which has been vacant for many years, has become an eyesore in a city that is otherwise beautiful. The site has now been officially given the green light to be transformed into a modern and green living space and a large park.
The council already granted a licence for the excavation of old railway tracks and other elements that had become overgrown. The area had been largely transformed into a place for dogs to walk and do their business. It is now all fenced and ready to begin redevelopment.
The new design is expected to take about 2 years, but it will require various studies, given the technical specifications. These include tests on the quantity of water in the ground and the seismic stability.
The site, once completed, will have 401 new homes – many of them protected price flats – and 20,000 square meters of public space, including sports fields, gardens and parks. It will also include three apartment blocks.
