British Tourist Drowns in Costa Blanca, Marking Seventh Beachfront Tragedy This Year – CNS News

A British man has drowned at a popular tourist spot in Spain, becoming the seventh person to lose their life at this location in 2023. The 72-year-old was pulled unconscious from the water around 3:30 pm on Thursday at a beach in the resort town of Guardamar del Segura in Costa Blanca. Attempts to revive the man by emergency services were unsuccessful.

Sources suggest that the man may have suffered from a health problem before drowning in the sea. The area is known for its strong currents, which have been responsible for several tragic incidents this year. The local council has placed warning signs in both Spanish and English to alert beachgoers of the dangerous conditions.

This latest drowning adds to a string of fatalities on the town’s beaches, raising serious concerns about safety measures and the need for more effective precautions to prevent further tragedies. The series of incidents has prompted authorities to reconsider safety protocols in an attempt to better protect visitors in the future.
