Benalmadena Marina has made steady progress in a major remodelling project of its dock for nautical activities. This is one of five initiatives that are tied to a special extension for the Marina’s operations.
The project’s centerpiece is the construction of a breakwater that will separate the main channel entrance from the nautical sports dock. It also involves the reorganisation of various spaces within the area. The project, with a budget of more than €220 thousand, covers drafting, construction management, and health and safety coordination.
The preliminary work has been well under way, with recent seabed surveys being conducted to determine foundation depths for the breakwater. In recent days, a 20 metre probe was completed. Finalisation of the project’s draft is expected by year-end. The total timeframe for this project will be six months. The first phase will consist of initial surveys and the basic plans, while the second half will be the project execution. The project will then be submitted for approval to the Andalusian Public Ports Agency.
The new breakwater, which will separate vessel traffic and improve safety for everyone by creating a safe zone for pedestrians to enjoy long walks around the area, is also expected to rejuvenate the whole area. Parallel to this, the marina contracted the four remaining projects which are currently in different stages of development. The marina’s most advanced project is a photovoltaic plant with solar vehicle charging stations. Its project has been approved, and the construction tender for its construction is open until July 22, 2018.
