Intercultural relations are a top priority for Benalmádena’s council, which aims to connect the town’s diverse nationalities. With a wide range of cultures represented, the council is working to strengthen the bonds between different communities in the area.
With around 160 nationalities living together in Benalmádena, the new initiative seeks to enhance understanding, foster empathy, and encourage greater integration of non-Spanish residents into the wider community. The goal is to create a more unified and inclusive environment.
The initiative, called ‘Tejiendo Entendimiento’ (Sewing Together Understanding), focuses on addressing discrimination, improving personal health, and resolving community conflicts. At its core, the program aims to prevent marginalization and ensure a fair and welcoming society for all.

The council’s primary focus will be to foster intercultural relations by organizing regular meetings with various social groups in the community. These meetings will cover essential topics such as education, health, public administration, employment, and neighborhood relations, aiming to build stronger connections and address the diverse needs of residents.
In addition, every Wednesday, a dedicated service bus will stop at several locations around the town, providing residents with access to mediation services. This service will help locals navigate public administration and resolve issues with organizations that may be challenging to deal with, such as tax matters, the police, health services, or neighborhood disputes.
The exact timetable for the bus service will be announced at a later date, giving residents the opportunity to plan and take advantage of this helpful resource.
