Jessica Persson, a Swedish multidisciplinary artist who lives in Mijas and is a resident of Mijas, has opened ‘Colours of the Land’ – presenting her organic ceramics.
The exhibition runs until August 29, and invites visitors reconnect with nature via expressive sculptures created from natural materials.
Persson’s ceramic creations are a push on the traditional boundaries. They use local elements such as wood, stones, bones and ashes to create their pieces. Her process is carried out outdoors without using conventional tools. She uses earthy sienna, amber, and amber-toned tones that evoke a feeling of calm. Persson stated that he wanted his work to inspire people to slow-down, listen to nature and feel its rhythm.
Mijas’s openness and artistic magnetism is revealed by the presence of internationally acclaimed artists such as Persson.
Jessica Persson has a bachelor’s degree in ceramics and teaches at the Mijas Art Center. And her ‘Colours of the Land’ is, in short, an opportunity to see the landscape of Mijas transformed and, perhaps, a place to find in those pieces an echo of our own need for connection and serenity.
The Mijas Pueblo Tourism Office is hosting “Colours of the Land”, a free exhibition, until August 29. It will be open Monday through Friday 9am-8pm and on weekends 10am-2pm. Admission is always free.
