The Andalucían emergency phone service 112 has managed a total of 421,781 incidents during the first six months of 2025, representing a 6.61% increase compared to the 395,627 emergencies coordinated in the same period last year. This information comes from the Agencia de Emergencias de Andalucía, which operates under the regional Ministry of Presidency, Interior, Social Dialogue, and Administrative Simplification.

Nearly half of all calls to the 112 emergency line were for medical assistance. 204,839 situations were successfully managed. Medical emergencies can range from severe illnesses to accidents that require immediate medical attention. Public safety concerns are the second most common cause of calls, with 72 919 incidents reported. This category covers a variety of incidents, including thefts, assaults or disturbances as well as other security issues that require police assistance.

The number of calls relating to traffic incidents was also high, with 38 217 being made about general traffic problems and 23 700 relating specifically to road accidents. 20473 calls were made for animal-related emergencies, which included cases of animals that were injured or dangerous and posed a risk to the public. Urban and rural fires were reported 17190 times. Firefighting services had to act quickly in these cases. Other important call categories include anomalies with essential public services, such as water or electric disruptions (8 238 calls), requests to social services (7 410), and rescue operations or salvage (5 274).

Looking at provincial data, Sevilla leads in emergency call volume with 109,236 incidents, followed closely by Málaga with 91,212. Cádiz (51,976) and Granada (51,361) also recorded high call numbers. Almería, Córdoba, Huelva, and Jaén had relatively fewer incidents, with 34,581; 30,899; 26,754; and 25,761 calls respectively. Between 1 pm and 2, the most active hour for emergency services, where 135 incidents are managed per hour in average, was between 1 pm to 2 pm. The month of June had the most calls with 80,704 total, followed by May’s 74,960. The increase in calls during these months coincides with the start to the holiday season. Cultural events and festivities are common across the region.

The 1-1-2 emergency service is a free and publicly-funded service available across Europe. It provides access to immediate medical help, fire and police assistance, civil protection, and other services. It is open 24 hours a day to help anyone in an emergency. The service uses Advanced Mobile Location technology (AML), allowing dispatchers to pinpoint a caller’s location using their mobile device. This greatly improves response times and effectiveness. In addition, the service is multilingual and offers help in English as well as French, German Ukrainian, Arabic, and Spanish. This linguistic inclusivity guarantees that people of different nationalities and backgrounds can receive prompt and effective emergency support, ensuring Andalucía remains accessible and safe for residents and visitors alike.
