Scam Alert: Alicante motorists discover fake parking tickets displayed on windscreens

ALICANTE City Council is warning about a recent spate of fake parking ticket stickers being pasted on cars around the Central Market.

Around 30 bogus tickets have been found so far, demanding a €140 payment- with a 50% discount for prompt payment.

On the tickets, the name of the DGT and the council are printed.

The scam includes a QR-code that, according to the council, should never be scanned under any circumstances.

This code links to a fraudulent website that tries to steal personal information, including bank details.

The Policia Nacional investigates the origins of this con.

Alicante’s Policia Local says an official ticket has a totally different design called ‘Complaint Bulletin’ with the Alicante City Council logo at the top

There is no QR code, but a barcode that has a reference number.

Fake signs have been discovered on Calles P. Quintana and Manuel Anton. They were also found in Campos Vasallo. Belando. Capitan Segarra. San Juan Bosco.

The authorities do not rule out that more fake tickets are in circulation.
