Estepona is set to come alive this weekend with sports as it hosts the new edition of 24 Horas Deportivas. The event is scheduled for Saturday, 7 and Sunday, 8 June, and will bring together more than 6,500 athletes from all age groups in over 60 sports.
Organised by the Fundación 24 Horas Deportivas with support from the town hall, the event is one of the most important on Estepona’s sports calendar. In stadiums, sports centers and open spaces around the town, competitions and exhibits will take place. Up to 20,000 spectators are expected, including residents and tourists.
This year’s event features a brand new competition, flag rugby. On the programme are football, basketball judo karate padel golf table tennis beach volleyball badminton speedsoft fishing. The programme will also include martial arts and nautical sports.
The Recinto Ferial hosts a variety of activities, such as rhythmic gymnastics (rhythmic gymnastics), ballet, flamenco and body combat. Zumba is also included.
The Town Hall is providing funding to the event, and allowing access to all municipal facilities. In addition to the €10,000 grant for this weekend’s event, the town hall has also provided €26,000 for the school sports programme.
The celebration is open to everyone and free. This is a weekend for the whole family, full of movement, energy and pride.
