Malaga has been confirmed as the next host of the Michelin Star Gala, which is the most prestigious gala in the world.
La Consula, a prestigious culinary school in Malaga, will officially announce the news on Friday.
Malaga has achieved a major milestone in its gastronomic development. It has quietly, but with confidence, established itself as one of the rising stars on Spain’s map.

The Michelin Guide organizes the annual gala, which is widely regarded as one of the most important nights in Spanish gastronomy.
Previous editions took place in Madrid, Barcelona Valencia and Murcia.


In total, around €1 million has been invested to secure the event, with contributions from the Junta de Andalucia, Malaga City Council, and the Provincial Council.
The decision is expected to deliver significant returns, with Michelin estimating the media and tourism impact of the gala at around €30 million.
Malaga, and the surrounding provinces, currently have 11 Michelin Stars spread over nine restaurants. Notable venues like Bardal or Skina both hold two stars.
The region has a great reputation for not only its Andalucian cuisine and local produce, but for the innovation creativity and personality brought to the table by local chefs.
The province is now the ninth-ranked in Spain and the Andalucian region with the most Michelin starred restaurants.
Skina in Marbella, directed by Marcos Granda is expected to win its third star.
If it is successful, the restaurant will join a club of less than 20 restaurants with tri-star status in Spain.
Michelin Guide Awards are notoriously secretive. They are decided by anonymous inspectors, who rate restaurants on various criteria, including the quality of ingredients, precision in technique, harmony in flavour, and chef’s culinary vision.
