Dining Harmony

Dining chairs are a great way to add style and comfort to your dining table. But, it can raise the question of whether the legs should match the table legs.

There is no rule that says the table and chairs must match. However, many interior designers believe they should complement one another rather than be identical. Use the style of the table as a guide instead of matching legs. The use of a shared design theme such as mid-century modern or rustic finishes can bring the room together without it looking identical. Mixing textures, colors, and materials can create a more interesting space.

Dark wood tables can look great when paired with lighter chairs. Metals and woods combined add contrast and depth. To avoid a room feeling chaotic, don’t overdo it. On the contrary, matching traditional chair legs to a formal table can create an elegant look, particularly in formal settings.

If you have an eclectic design, mismatched furniture can be a good choice. If you want to mix colors or shapes, be sure to keep some consistency. Match fabrics and finishes, for example. The chair’s height, width and material should be suited to your space and lifestyle.

Coffee Table Trends

Modern coffee tables are much lower than they used to be, reflecting the way we now use this important piece of furniture.

Coffee tables used to be functional pieces for storing tea and coffee. But their function has changed over the years. Since their European origins in the 17th Century to the 1950s, coffee tables have changed to fit our lifestyles.

The height of coffee tables today is usually between 40 and 48 cm. The low-profile coffee table is perfect for modern living, as it provides a functional piece that can serve multiple purposes. Many of these tables have hidden storage compartments or drawers. Their design and height are perfect for apartments or smaller rooms, as they maintain an airy feel.

Low coffee tables create a feeling of flow and enhance the feel of a space. The smaller size of these coffee tables allows them to play a useful role in the room without dominating other furniture. Moreover, they are lightweight and easy to move. These tables are both stylish and versatile.

Perfect Proportions

Consider the height of your sofa when selecting the right coffee table for your living space.

The rule of thumb is that the coffee table should be a little lower than your couch, usually by 2 to 5 cm. It is easier to reach without having stretch or bend. Most sofas can be adjusted to a height of between 40 cm and 46 centimeters. This will create a comfortable reach for your guests and an attractive look.

There are some exceptions. A slightly higher table might be better suited to a sofa that is very low. If you entertain often or eat meals in your living room, then a table that is a little higher (around 50-53cm) will be easier to reach and keep pets away from your snacks.

A table too high or too low can make a space feel uncosy and disconnected, while a table too low may cause discomfort by forcing you to stretch out your legs, or feeling cramped. It is important to balance style and functionality when choosing the height of your coffee table.
