Tickets are on sale for the Salón Varietés Theatre production of the smash-hit musical Joseph and his Technicolor Dreamcoat playing until on Sunday, March 30.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat is a high-spirited musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice that retells the biblical Joseph story from the Book of Genesis. Joseph is given a multi-coloured coat by his father Jacob. This sparks jealousy in his brothers. Joseph is sold into slavery by his brothers in Egypt. His ability to interpret dreams makes him the advisor to Pharaoh. Joseph’s prescience saves Egypt during a famine and earns him power. His brothers seek his help, unaware of who he is. Joseph tests their character and especially Judah, then reveals himself. He forgives them, in a tearful reunion.
The musical explores themes such as envy, resilience and redemption. It is known for its catchy music, which blends pop, country and rock. It was first performed as a school production in 1968. Since then, the musical has become a worldwide hit.
The show, starring Jacob Botha in the role of Joseph, will sell out. Jimmy Millar is directing and designing choreography. James Burn is directing the music. Ruth Norris is the narrator. It plays until Sunday March 30 at 7.30pm every night, except Sunday at 7pm. The Saturday matinee and Sunday 2pm matinee are both available. Tickets are available from the theatre box office and cost €25.
