Estepona has launched an emergency home assistance service that is available 24/7, 365 days a year. The service includes a telephone service where residents can call to report any incident or concern.
This Centro de Atención al Usuario is one of the latest additions to the council’s home help service, aimed at residents with some degree of dependence or a situation of vulnerability.
Estepona has seen a rise in the number people registering for home help. As of the end of January, there were 730 registered individuals, compared with 665 in 2017.
“The importance of this service provided by the council is for all people, the vast majority of them elderly, who have support needs, and also for the peace of mind of their families,” said the councillor for Social Welfare, María Aguilar.
According to data collected from 2024, the general demographic of service users has so far been women aged 80-89. The total number of people assisted was 68 percent women, and 32 percent men. These users range in age from 70 to over 90.
The council also improved its home assistance service by expanding the available technical aid materials. The council has also improved the home help service by increasing the technical aid material available.
The council has spent €60,000 extra this last year on services and equipment for those with less mobility. If you think that this service is for you, please contact your doctor or town hall.
