Two Spanish directors are facing major charges in Gibraltar’s biggest corporate tax fraud case – CSN


TWO Spanish construction company directors are facing serious fraud and money laundering charges in Gibraltar following an investigation into alleged tax evasion worth over £370,000.

David Nevado Luna of Estepona and Francisco Cuadrado Gonzalez of Casares will appear in front the Gibraltar Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday to answer questions about a tax fraud case that prosecutors have described as complex.

The Royal Gibraltar Police Economic Crime Unit conducted an extensive investigation into the charges, alleging that the two men had understated their personal and corporate tax liabilities.

Tomorrow, two Spanish businessmen are due to appear before the Gibraltar Magistrate Court.

Gonzalez faces the more serious charges, with four counts of fraud by false representation related to personal tax declarations, alongside allegations of possessing criminal property worth £120,012.28 – funds allegedly obtained through tax evasion.

His business partner Luna faces two counts of fraud and is accused of possessing £77,223.79 in criminal property, also allegedly gained through tax fraud.

Victoria Construction Ltd., the company that was charged with false accounting, has been called to court as well. 

In court documents, investigators highlighted the suspicious declarations made by the firm for 2018/19/19/20.

The company reportedly claimed a turnover of £385,050 against expenses of £428,713 for 2018/19, followed by £364,800 in turnover and £358,151 in expenses the following year.

The firm itself faces additional charges related to the possession of criminal property amounting to £173,574.25.

The investigation, which began in February 2024 with the arrests, is one of Gibraltar’s largest in recent history. 

Both directors are due to appear tomorrow at 10am in court, in both their personal capacity as well as in the capacity of representatives of Victoria Construction Ltd.
