Marbella bid to keep discount bus price - Costa News Spain

Marbella mobility: council continues free buses – Costa News Spain

Marbella council is keeping its free city buses for people registered or ‘empadronados’ for holders of the local mobility card. This will be the sixth year of the service, one in which, during the first five years, local residents saved €30 million.

Mayor Ángeles Muñoz has said that in 2024 almost six and a half million trips were made using the 82,208 mobility cards. The mayor believes the initiative contributes to the protection of the environment, as it offers an alternative to private cars.

The good news comes as another important advancement in mobility in Marbella that improves the quality of life of residents in the city, along with another piece of good mobility news in that the ramp that connects Calle San Antonio and Calle Boquerón is completed and facilitates the passage of people with reduced mobility or with baby strollers and prams, which until now had to use the side of the road.

Previously, the two paths that connected both streets had stairs. The ramp was built on the one-side of the street. It is divided into three sections, each of which is just under 10 meters long. They are connected by flat areas to take a break after the 20% gradient.

Handrails totalling 44 metres make the four-metre-wide passageway more secure. The project took a whole month.
