Torremolinos has just opened its panoramic elevator in La Batería Park, a new infrastructure that represents a qualitative leap in terms of accessibility for the town and that allows Avenida Carlota Alessandri to connect with one of the biggest green areas in town.
Mayor of Torremolinos, Margarita del Cid, has visited the new facility, which involved an investment of almost €900,000. ‘The commissioning of this elevator is a milestone that represents a before and after in terms of accessibility in our city. Del Cid explained that this panoramic elevator has made it possible to link and improve the foot traffic between parts of the city and the coast.
The panoramic elevator in La Batería Park has a 60-metre walkway and overcomes a difference in height of more than 28 metres, turning the transit between La Batería Park and La Carihuela neighbourhood into an accessible walk for everyone.
The system is comprised of an outdoor lift with a panoramic cabin that can accommodate up to 8 people. The project was equipped with an approved electrical rescue system and an escape hatch on the roof of the cabin.
‘One of our commitments as a government team is to reinvent the city and precisely equipment like this are what means a significant next step,’ said Del Cid, who explained that ‘the use of the elevator will also have an added value as it is regulated by people hired through the Special Employment Centre, in Los Pinares, giving this added feature a greater social dimension.’
