Tears of joy: Costa del Sol community raises €50,000 for homeless charity – Costa News Spain

La Scala Restaurant was transformed into a beacon of transformation and hope on February 20th! The Costa del Sol community came out in support of one woman and 120 homeless people on February 20th.Dream to bring dignity and a sense of hope to the homeless.

Joyce Gyimah, a tireless defender of the poor, gave everything up to feed and protect those most vulnerable on the Costa del Sol. She wanted to shower the homeless with hope, but ended up with so much more.

Michel Euesden organized a night that will never be forgotten at La Scala Restaurant, Marbella. Tibbi, the CEO of La Scala Group of Restaurants and Michelle Mellet were generous enough to host it. Their aim? The goal is to raise funds for a year-long employee to run the newly installed showers in Joyce’s Adintre Centre, Fuengirola. This will allow those who do not have a shower to feel proud and hopeful seven days a weeks.

One hundred twenty incredible souls united over the food of the gods and luxurious prizes—from boat trips and track days to VIP tickets and exclusive packages—with every ticket delivering €35 directly to The Adintre charity. We danced alongside mirrored ballerinas and cheered on stilt-walkers and fire-eaters.

‘This night was dedicated to honouring Joyce of Adintre’s incredible work. Her unwavering commitment to the vulnerable people in our community has been a source of inspiration. Tibbi and Michelle rallied behind her. Steven, Tibbi and I also stood up for her. We pledged together to raise €11,700 to open the showers for the homeless, along with the unwavering support of our teams. But the community rallied and showed that by uniting, we can make a difference. What a difference they made!’ said Michel Euesden.

‘Special thanks to Lorraine Palmer of El Oceano Hotel for her surprise donation of €11,700 at the end of the evening and to the ever-generous Charlie Mullins and Jim McAllister for rounding our contributions to an awe-inspiring €50,000!’

Housing crisis has hit us. Many people do not have a place to live. We offer hope to the homeless tonight.Michel Euesden addressed the diners. Michel Euesden volunteers at the Adintre Centre, which provides a healthy and satisfying meal to those in need at least five days a week.

We are not all digital nomadics. We’ve all paid thousands of euro in rent and now many are unable to afford food. Last week I met a couple who were working both jobs and living on the street.

It was time to do the raffle with the big numbers, and then the auction with the generous auction lots of luxury items donated by the Costa del Sol Business Community to tempt them to part with their hard earned cash. They didn’tThe truth is, you don’t have to be very tempting. Charlie Mullins bid a ridiculous amount of cash to purchase his own treasures.

The star of the evening was now ready to make her debut to the now electrified crowd. Joyce Gyimah began Adintre over 24 years ago. I decided to meet homeless people on the street because I was afraid of them. I didn’t know what to expect.I didn’t understand why they were in the streets. And I fell madly in love. I ran a small firm. I was a realtor. I built houses. I was building houses.

She began by helping others who were in need of dignity, food, hope, and a place where they could gather and feel safe. Joyce cooks for them every day. She gets them up, puts them on their feet and organises everything.

My heart is meltingShe said Showers are available for everyone. It’s amazing that not everyone can enjoy a shower, despite living on the same planet. Showers are shared. Open the tap and control temperature. And itIt’s incredible that we donAll of us don’t. We are the same tonight. I was able to do everything by myself. You made me feel like I’m not alone.

As the Costa del Sol demonstrated, the community’s power to overcome hardships and injustices was a cause for tears.

Michel said, ‘You, the community, did this—you changed lives on this night. You all got involved. What a difference! Thank you. We are so grateful that we could be part of such a fantastic achievement.
