Mijas Employment figures show strong growth trends

Mijas is continuing to see a steady and strong improvement in the job market. According to new figures released by the Junta de Andalucia, unemployment in the Costa del Sol city dropped 6.1% in April when compared with the same period last year. There are 364 less people unemployed in the region, and the total number is now 5,613.

Comparing March to this year’s, the number of people looking for work has also decreased. Mijas has made a positive move by reducing the number of job seekers.

In addition, the latest statistics show an increase in the number people who are registered with Social Security. Mijas registered 26,438 affiliateds in March. This is 569 affiliates more than March 2024, and 561 affiliates more than February of this year. The total number of people employed under the general scheme is 17,509, while 8,603 are self-employed.

Ana Mata the mayor of Mijas called the figures positive, and said that they proved the town was on the right path for growth. She also said that local government will continue supporting job creation and working on policies to help more people secure stable employment.

These results are a good sign for locals and expats. They show that Mijas continues to be a lively place to work and live on the Costa del Sol.
