Marbella FC is set to get a brand new €18 million stadium after the Marbella Town Hall gave the green light to the long-awaited project. The new stadium is set to replace the existing Antonio Lorenzo Cuevas and be completed by 2026.
Plans include seating for up to 8,000 people, a grass pitch and upgraded facilities that meet both national and international standards. The plans include underground parking, spaces for multi-purpose and commercial uses. Solar panels and rainwater harvesting systems are included in the design to increase sustainability.
This investment will boost the local sport scene and bring new events to Marbella. The new stadium will be a home for Marbella FC who compete in the fourth division of Spanish football.
The mayor of Marbella, Ángeles Muñoz, confirmed the project will be carried out through a public-private partnership. Marbella FC is responsible for managing the stadium through a concession agreement lasting 50 years. Once construction is completed, the club will be responsible for maintenance and operations.
Work should begin by the end of this year. Marbella FC is temporarily moving their home games while the stadium construction takes place.
The new stadium will hopefully attract more visitors, investors and visibility for Marbella.
