On Saturday, March 15, 2025, at 8pm, the Auditorio Felipe VI will resonate with the world premiere of Estepona, la Ciudad de las Flores, a sinfonietta composed by Hugo Chinesta, winner of the IV International Composition Contest for Symphonic Band, ‘Estepona, Jardín de la Costa del Sol.’
Chinesta will conduct the Estepona municipal band in a concert free of charge. You can pick up your invitations at the Centro Cultural Padre Manuel from 10 March.
The work, a four-movement sinfonietta titled Laberinto de Flores, el Palacio de las Orquídeas, la Flor Cadáver and la Plaza de las Flores, captures Estepona’s vibrant essence through its floral landscapes and cultural heritage. Chinesta, a renowned Valencian composer and director, who won the €10,000 prize in a competition launched by Estepona Council in order to enrich the town’s musical repertoire.
This is the fourth edition of the contest which began in 2020, to celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Estepona municipal band. Previous winning compositions, including works by Álvaro López Cámara and Ferrer Ferran, have already enriched the band’s collection. Chinesta will also perform other works such as Bona Gent, Coliseum and others.
This is a celebration that celebrates Estepona’s unique identity. It combines tradition with original artists in a venue renowned for its acoustic quality.
