Despite adverse weather conditions, the European Cricket League has pressed ahead at the Cártama Oval, with over half of the group stage matches already completed.

ECL2025 is a competition in Malaga that brings together 35 of the best European clubs, divided into 7 groups. Yet again, Cártama has become the epicentre of European cricket.

Sometimes referred to as the ‘Champions League of European Cricket,’ the tournament has seen Darmstadt CC advance after defeating 2023 champions Dreux by four wickets in the Group A final. Contested in the fast-paced T10 format, the 90-minute clashes take place daily from 11.30am through to 9pm in Cártama, now becoming a well-respected top-tier cricket venue.

The event is open to the public and offers a variety of bars, restaurants and entertainment. It fosters a family-friendly, festive atmosphere.

The Group G playoffs will be played on Saturday, March 15. Malo Beveren and Roma CC play at 12:30pm, while Independents CC plays against Mediterranean Vikings at 5pm. On Sunday, March 16, the winners of those matches will play each other. On Monday, the 17th of March, the Championship Week bats off. This will determine which team goes to the finals and becomes European champion in 2025.

The Cártama Oval on Diseminado Poligono 26, 47, Cártama, is open daily during the championships from 10am. Let’s hope for sunny weather and cricketing splendour.
