Collegium Musicum: inspiring performances

Collegium Musicum performed two outstanding concerts in Fuengirola, Marbella, and other locations under the inspiring direction of Delyth Bressington.

The two concerts that featured a program that blended Bizet’s operatic charm with Mozart’s emotional depth received standing ovations.

The evening began with Mozart’s Symphony No. One of Mozart’s most emotionally powerful works, 40 in G minor is one of his most dramatic and dramatic compositions. The orchestra displayed the dramatic tension and drama of the Molto allegro and the grace and elegance of the Menuetto. They also captured the driving energy of the Allegro Assai with precision and expressive range. This was followed by a moment of operatic intimacy with the beloved duet ‘Au fond du Temple Saint’ from Georges Bizet’s The Pearl Fishers. Tenor Luis María Pacetti and baritone José Antonio Ariza gave a moving performance, their voices blending with warmth and emotional depth, earning a heartfelt response from the audience.

Mozart’s monumental “Great Mass” in C-minor was the star of the second part. The choir and soloists gave a performance that was both beautiful and intense, from the opening Kyrie through to the triumphant Osanna. Emma Morwood’s solos and duets with Sophie Gallagher were especially impressive, particularly in the ethereal Et Immamatis est and the lyrical Domine Deus. The quartet was outstanding in the Benedictus. Meanwhile, the choir exhibited power and sensitivity, particularly during the stirring Cum Sancto Spiritu.

Collegium Musicum reaffirmed with these concerts its position as a premier musical group on the Costa del Sol. The performances, set against the stunning backdrop of Marbella’s Church of La Encarnación and the welcoming auditorium in Fuengirola, were a true celebration of classical music at its finest.
